Prologue( Monique Proverbs)
In the prologue the author talks about a species that can adapt to its environment quickly and has the ability to name things. She also says that it is able to co-exist with other species twice its size. She also mentions the Big Five which where 5 other extinctions that occured. In the 6th extinction, humans will be the cause of other animals becoming extinct. The author doesn’t really mention the name human in the prologue but refers to humans as homo-sapians. A quote that stuck out to me was, “humans can alter the climate and chemistry of the ocean”(pg2). This quote stood out to me because we pollute the environment so much and there are thinhs like green house gases and global warming that affect climate.
