Chapter Twelve (Sarah)
The book asks the question "What makes us human?" (page 248) Its an interesting question that has a lot of different answers. Two answers I've heard before are a person's DNA and the other is a person's way of thinking and their morals. I don't really know since our DNA does genetically make us human but a persons morals can help define who they are as a person. Pääblo talks about how what differentiates humans from Neanderthals is a certain craziness that humans possess. He also talks about what drives humans and what influences their actions. Humans are driven by many different thing. Some are curious and want to learn more, while others act out of greed and for their own benefit. They are often shaped by their experiences so its hard to say that everyone is motivated for the same reasons.Without motivation or ambitions humans probably wouldn't have grown and there would have been nothing that distinguishes us from other species.
