Chapter Eight (Sarah)

The main focus of this chapter is about trees. It mentions how once temperatures increase, trees will "move" into an are that is similar to the ones they had grown in previously. Some plants have already started doing this such as the Schefflera, while others have remained in the same area and are dying out. Some scientists have a problem with this since they said it didn't account for things like new research or if a species can survive in another area or in different conditions. But that leads me to question if a species can survive in a different area, why aren't they already there? It would make sense since they are able to live in the conditions of the area so I'm not sure why they wouldn't be located in more than one area.

At the end of the chapter it talks about how species have adapted more to the cold sine there are events such as the Ice Age which test a species endurance to the cold rather than the heat. I find it interesting since this also shows that the rules of survival really do change during extinction.
