Chapter 6 (Monique Proverbs)
This chapter begins with Elizabeth, Jason, and Maria exploring vents on the ocean floor in Ischia. From this they saw that carbon dioxide was coming from the vents. In this chapter the Industry Revolution is also brought up and the author talks about how it has effected the environment because of all the pollution and greehouse gases. She talks about how the pollution has increased the temperature. An experiment conducted by Hall-Spencer came up where he observes different ocean species from different locations. From the experiment in the chapter it was concluded that there were fewer species close to the vent and high ocean acidification meant lower biodiversity.
