Chapter 5 ( Monique Proverbs)
Chapter 5 talks about the first extinction. The first extinction is known as the Ordovician period. This is when many ocean and marine species were very abundant in population size. This chapter also mentions glaciation which causes the temperature of sea levels to drop. When the temperature drops ocean habitats are destroyed and oxygen levels in the water stat to rise. This was the cause of the extinction which wiped out many ocean life such as graptolites. The next extinction was the End-Permian Extinction. This extinction was caused by ocean acidification and global warming. During this time alot of soecies have disappeared. Global warming is still a huge modern day problem that can cause other species to become extinct. Humans are mistreating the environment and using resources for their own benefits. By doing this they totally disregard the health and well being of other species.
